One of the key lessons I learnt when I worked for one of the top, globally renowned Architectural firms, Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects.
Stefan Antoni once told me
Never place a ceiling on life, on yourself...always stay curious.
Nicknamed, “click-click” as he always had his camera ready to capture inspiration in the world around him.
I was younger then and I heard him, but I never truly understood it. I get it now.
Stay Curious
Keep wonderous eyes
Look, See, Capture
Design is all around you.
Essentially all design already exists. But your interpretation of it, how you combine each element and the meaning you place behind your ideas is what gives your design its ultimate creativity. Can you back it?
Your effort, your desire must be clearly seen in the designs you produce. Add the element of intention to your creative thinking.
“We know, “ says John Kouwenhoven,
...“that where we perceive no patterns of relationship, no design, we discover no meaning.”
Graphic design is essentially about visual relationships – providing meaning to a mass of unrelated needs, ideas, words, and pictures. It is the designer’s job to select and fit this material together – and make it interesting…
“The reason,” Kouwenhoven goes on to say, “apparently unrelated things become interesting when we start fitting them together…is that the mind’s characteristic employment is the discovery of meaning, the discovery of design.”…” the search for design, indeed, underlies all arts and sciences…The root meaning of the word art is, significantly enough, ‘to join, to fit together’…”
